 Confident  Beginner’s

BASIC PAPER PIECING- Every quilter must have this basic technique in their quilting skills. Open up your abilities to do so much more by knowing this technique, also known as foundation piecing. If you can sew on a line, then you can do this!                                                                                                      Date:  Sat. Oct. 18    9 AM to 12 noon            Cost $24

BLOCK 'O' QUILT- OSU fans! You’ve seen the original quilt—and decided that you did not want to go to that much effort! Well, along with Rita Bolton’s layout, I’ve come up with a much easier pattern! You’ll combine some easy Quilt As You Go piecing and the raggy look to make a nice couch throw. The best thing is when you are done sewing, the quilt is done as well!  GO BUCKS!                                  Date: Sat. Sept. 10    9 AM to 12 noon           $24

PUMPKIN TABLERUNNER-  a great seasonal tablerunner (I’ll give you ideas to make other seasons as well), and you’ll learn how to use the blanket stitch on your machine or you can do it by hand. Make it in time to use this fall.             Date: Monday, Sept. 22          6-9 PM                 $24

CHARMED, I’M SURE – An easy quilt just made easier! Do you fret about accurate cutting and then the sewing? This method takes all those fears away! Come learn this new trick and again—use those beautiful charm packs, or raid your stash.  A two part class, the first class will feature laying out the quilt and the second class will feature how to trim quilts done ‘on point’ and how to add borders.                                                                                                    DATE: Tues. Sept. 30/Oct. 21       6:30 to 8:30 PM        Cost:   $32

CIRCLE GAME- another great kit I found that includes the fabric (the circles are precut for you as well), the pattern and the bias binding to make this darling kids quilt. You can use your own fabric as well. Although I hand stitched my binding down on the circles, I’ll also show you how to do it on the machine. It does make a nice portable project though and the kids will love it. You can even create some games to use it.                                                                Date: Sat. Nov. 15       9 AM to 12 noon           Cost: $24

CHRISTMAS ORNAMENT RUNNER- so easy to make using all your favorite holiday fabrics. They would make great gifts too! Make it as long or short as you like, make one and use is for a placemat.                                            Date: Sat. Dec. 6     9 AM to 12 noon  Cost$ 24

   Advanced Beginner’s

Sept. 15, 29       6:30 to 8:30 PM             $32

POINSETTIA WREATHS- another machine appliqué class. Perfect your skills in learning to do the small round pieces and points. This will be a two part class, the first one is making the background blocks and learning more on preparing for machine appliqué (there will be homework) and the second class will focus on the appliqué itself and talking about design ideas.                                                                                     Date:  Sat. Oct. 18/Nov. 1       1-3 PM              Cost: $32

MORNING GLORY STARS- a quilt that looks great in soft colors like mine, Christmas prints or about in any color combination. Using 'connector' squares make it easier than using templates.             Date: Sat. Oct. 4   1-4 PM  Cost: $24

  Intermediate Quilters and Up

FREE MOTION QUILTING- a must have class if you are ready to move on to the ‘next phase’ in your quilting skills. Zoe is for rent!

You’ve been asking for it and after doing some careful consideration, I’ve decided to allow ‘Zoe’ (my HQ 16) to help you get your quilts finished. This class is a REQUIREMENT before you can rent my machine. You’ll learn how to prepare your quilt to be put on a Mid-arm machine, how to set up the machine, load a quilt, what threads to use, etc. After you have taken the class, you’ll be able to set up days to come in and quilt your own quilts.  Only paper and a pen to take notes are needed for this class. There is a limit to 4 per class. Classes will be added as needed.

PURSE of the MONTH

CHARM PURSE What a raging success this purse has been this spring/summer!  The darling charm packs sold at quilt shops make it easy to choose fabric (or you can make your own ‘charms’).  I’ll show you how to make it your ‘own’ by varying the sizes.  You’ll also learn to put in a magnetic snap with ease.        Date:  Sat. Sept. 13  1-5 PM   Cost: $32

stashbuster club

Calling all quilter's who are busting out of the seams with fabric and need to reduce it, somehow, someway! Get rid of the guilt by using that stash. If you no longer like the fabric, but can't quite throw it away, I'll be collecting quilts to be donated to a charity. Let's get rid of the guilt and start sewing! I will be presenting a new quilt each month to bust that stash and will show you some new techniques that will cut your time down leaving you with time to do the quilts you really want to do. Come join us on Saturday mornings, I'll put on the coffee/tea and we'll whittle down that stash yet!

Rules:

1. No NEW fabric allowed.

2. Sharing of fabric will be encouraged.

3. No making fun of others who have WAY too much stash (I get my feelings hurt too easy- LOL)

4. This is supposed to be fun.

STEPPING STONES-another Stashbuster class. A great looking quilt using up more scraps using a free Quiltville pattern.  You will also add two colors (I used black and white) of your choice.                                            Date:   Sat. Oct. 4    10 AM – 12 Noon      $16

CRUMBS another Stashbuster class and this again uses the smallest crumbs—it’s the last of the food (fabric) chain before we throw it away. There are several ways to use these blocks and I’ll give you several ideas in class. Be a thrifty recycler and use up that fabric!                                                   Date: Sat. Nov. 1   10 AM to 12 noon  Cost: $16

16 PATCH & PINWHEEL- this is a very popular and traditional pattern and of course, I made mine from bright colors! But it is equally attractive in two color scrappy. I used 5” charm squares for mine, but you can also use 2 ½” strips, plus a some 5” squares.  The goal is to dig into those scraps and make that bin go down! Date:  Sat. Sept. 13    10 AM to 12 noon  $16
