  Brand New Beginner’s

Tagalong--what a perfect baby quilt with all kinds of tactile stimulis!  A great quilt for a beginner to learn basic piecing and simple quilting for the next baby quilt you need. The little 'tags' are full of softness, nubby dots and silky textures that can keep a little one happy for a long time. It's also a perfect size to drag around with them day and night!

Date: Sat. Mar. 6   1-4 PM         Cost: $24

 Confident  Beginner’s

Picture Perfect-Even though it looks hard, this quilt uses Jelly Rolls (sets of 2 1/2" strips).  You get enough blocks to make a bonus tablerunner. Sample is done in bright colors, but would also look great in Christmas colors or a softer palate. A nice young ladies quilt.

SORRY--CLASS IS FULL

Date: Sat. Feb. 6   1-4 PM    Cost:$24 + book

Stained Glass--wow, whoever thought something that looked so awesome could be so much easier than you think. Come learn the 'tricks' into making this stunning wallhanging.  Bonus lesson: how to use a twin needle on your machine.

SORRY--CLASS IS FULL **BUT NEW CLASS ADDED

Date: Sat. Feb. 20   1-4 PM    Cost:$24 FULL

ADDITIONAL CLASS: TUES. FEB 16  10 AM TO 1 PM

3D Trees--offered previously as a large quilt, this small wallhanging will give you the techniques you need to know to make the 3D trees.  We will make the small trees, but by learning the technique, you can easily make the large trees and any size quilt you would like. Everyone who has done this has not been able to stop with one! Learn now and then you'll have all summer to make your quilts for Christmas!

Date: Sat. May 22    10 AM to 12 noon  Cost:$16

English Paper Piecing- not to be confused with Paper Piecing, this does use paper, but is done by hand. We'll make the Grandmother Flower Garden block (as shown), but the same techniques are used for various shapes as well. A perfect take along project! I'll share ideas on how to use these blocks.

3 SPOTS LEFT

Date: Sat.  Feb. 6    10AM to 12 noon       Cost:$16

Poppy Baskets- the main object of this class is how to make Bias Handles (can also use this technique for bias stems as well) for basket blocks. A few tricks on how to make them even and perfect. You will make one block in class, but then you can decide how big you want your quilt to be, a wallhanging to a bed size quilt.

Date: Sat. April 24    10 AM to 12 noon       Cost:$16 + book

Memory Quilts---LECTURE ONLY- I will present many ideas of how to go about making a quilt of memories, whether it's a quilt of a beloved one's clothes, memories of an event (like a reunion or special birthday) or just a friendship quilt. I'll share how to get your photos onto the quilt, how to do your wording to looking for the 'right' design. Because our memories are so personal, not one quilt will satisfy everybody's needs. So learn how to come up with your OWN memory quilt.  I'll have several samples of quilts and lots of reference books as a starting point to jump start your own quilt.

Date: Sat. May 8     1-3 PM   Cost: $16

   Advanced Beginner’s

Mitered Corners--I have had so many requests to teach this technique, but it's hard to come up with a project that allows you to get that far into class. Great news! I came up with an idea to use a panel (or some great large novelty print) for the center, then adding 2-3 borders.  Easily done in class!  There are several little tricks to getting perfect miters and I'll share them all with you. You pick which one works best for you. The best thing? You should be able to go home with a quilt top almost completed!

SORRY--BOTH CLASSES ARE FULL

Date: Sat.  Mar. 20   1-4 PM  Cost: $24         FULL

NEW DATE: WED. Mar. 17   10 AM to 1 PM     FULL

Paper Piecing-- a MUST know technique for all quilters. The sky is the limit when you know how to do paper piecing (AKA foundation piecing).  I chose this little floral sampler to show you that small blocks with precise points do not need to be feared again! If you do not know how to Paper Piece, now is the time to learn!

SORRY--CLASS IS FULL ** NEW DATE ADDED

Date: Sat. Mar. 20    9 AM - 12 noon    Cost: $24 FULL

NEW DATE: Tues. Mar. 16  10 AM to 1 PM

ABC quilt--LAST CLASS- what an adorable quilt for little ones. Each letter is comprised of fabric that matches the letter. The hardest thing is collecting 26 different fabrics. This 'class' is going to be a 3 part class. The first class will be a meeting of all interested students. Then we'll divide up the alphabet according to the amount of students in the class. Then you will be sent on a 'fabric hunt' to find your assigned fabric and you'll buy enough for everyone in the class. The second class will be the exchanging of the fabric and directions for your homework. The third class will not be held until Jan. 2010, giving you plenty of time to get your homework done.

Sorry--this class is full

Date: Sat. Jan. 30    10 AM to 12 noon

Nana's Garden-this sample was made by a friend who showed this in my last quilt show. What a striking quilt it is and how simple to make. She used soft flower colors in mostly purples, but it would easily adapt to your favorite palate of fabrics as well. A great way to use up stash!

SORRY--CLASS IS FULL ** NEW DATE ADDED

Date: Sat. April 3   9AM to 12 noon  Cost: $24 + book

NEW DATE: Wed. April 7  10 AM to 1 PM

Intermediate quilters

Courthouse Steps-- this quilt looks SO hard, yet it's really a basic Log Cabin variation. The TRICK is in the planning and organizing!  The most important thing is you need to sew an accurate 1/4" seam for this class. I'm going to have a brief overview of the class and will show how to do the homework in the first class, and the second class will be the actual sewing. We'll also discuss fabric selections in the first class. Sample shown is using 9 blocks, a large quilt will use 35.

NEW DATE ADDED--3 SPOTS LEFT IN EACH CLASS

Date: FIRST CLASS: Sat. April 10   12 noon to 1 PM    Cost: $32 SAME
SECOND CLASS: Sat. April 24  1-4 PM
NEW DATE FOR SECOND CLASS: TUES. APRIL 20   10 AM TO 1 PM

Shakespeare in the Park- (BLOCKS ONLY)an awesome quilt that is floating around the web right now.  I am in the middle of making my own version and lots of students would like to learn the techniques. It's basically comprised of 2 blocks: the Snail Trail block and the 8 pointed star block.  I'll have two separate classes in which you can choose which technique you'd like to learn. Either block in itself make beautiful quilts and I"ll have photos for you to help make your mind in which one you'd like to do. The actual SITP quilt is from a Nancy Martin book, which you'd have to buy separately if you want to make that quilt, although my technique is different than the one she uses in the book.

Date: SNAIL TRAIL block:Sat. May 8 9 AM-12 noon PM  Cost: $24  FULL
8 point STAR block: Sat. April 3   1-3 PM     Cost: $16  FULL

NEW DATE FOR 8 POINT STAR: Tues. April 6   10 AM to 1 PM

Dresden Plates- a traditional favorite, done in contemporary fabrics!  Of course, you can choose whichever fabric suits you. This was designed to use 2 charm packs (5" squares) and will yield you 4 blocks to make a nice wallhanging or table topper. Of course, you can always make more! Techniques learned: making the dresden plate fan blades with perfect points, 2 different applique methods, making nice circles, and how to make it all fit and lay flat! Whew! Some pre-class homework is required.

SECOND CLASS: Sat. Mar. 6    9 AM to 12 noon

Grids and Grommets Purse-- get in on the latest trend in purses, using grommets!  They are SO much easier than you'd think. Make your choice of the large size  (a purse big enough for me--a tote for everyone else) or a smaller size (a purse for the norm).  There is a little pre-class homework that will guarantee you to complete your purse in class.
