Flying Horse Farm Charity Quilts

This is a new avenue I have felt called to participate in.  There is a local children's camp that is part of Paul Newman's Serious Fun Children's Network (formally Hole in the Wall Gang)where medically challenged kids can go for a unique camping experience.  Read  more about it here...

 Flying Horse Farms

There is a local quilt group that makes quilts every year for EVERY camper! Last year the count was 300, this year was closer to 400 and next year they look to serve 500 campers! That's a lot of quilts!  I attended a program presented by one of the quilter's and they are always looking for fabric, batting, quilt tops, quilts and of course financial help.

That was enough for me.  I decided right then and there to do what I could to help.  I have offered to be a satellite location for Snuggled in Hope Quilt Group. I am going to start opening up my Studio, FREE of CHARGE, for people to come in and help make quilts for this group. I will have a different quilt each month that I will demonstrate how to make, but anyone is welcome to work on whatever they desire.  The only thing that I am going to require is that ALL quilts made that day must go to Flying Horse Farms. NO PERSONAL SEWING is to be done that day.

My goal is to get the quilt tops made and have people practice their machine quilting on my Long Arm, Khloe. I would like to send over finished quilts as they have enough quilt tops of their own to tie.

I have gone through my stash and started a new closet of fabric to begin making all these quilts. Obviously I don't have lots of yardage, but do have lots of smaller pieces to start making quilts. I will accept clean fabric, (Yardage would be great for backs) and batting.

People are welcome to use what I have or bring their own fabric to assist in making these quilts.  I also have some sewing machines for people to use and you can bring your own as well.

Don't sew but want to help?  Come and help press blocks and help cut fabric. We'll find something for you to do!

To start off, I will open my Studio on Wednesdays (see dates) from 10AM to 4 PM and 6PM to 9PM. I may change dates or times, depending on the need. I wish I had more Saturdays in the month to do those as well, but I don't. :(  So Wednesday nights are for the working women who want to help.

New dates for the fall to be announced in August!
